The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos has
donated books worth N500,000 to the Department of History and
International Relations of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
The books were donated to the University during the field trip by the students of the Department to the Institute.
Speaking while receiving the Students who also visited the Chinese Embassy, French Embassy, National Museum and many other relevant places, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Valentine Aletor appreciated the Institute for the gesture.
He said that the happiness and satisfaction he noticed in the Students on arrival indicated that they were treated very well. Prof. Aletor promised that Elizade University would concretize the relationship that the Students’ excursion to the Institute and Embassies has brought.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that Elizade University would continue to give relevant exposure to the Students. He said that arrangement has been made for students in International Relations and History and Diplomatic Studies to do their Internship in the Institute and Embassies.
In his remarks, one of the Students on the trip and Chairman, Students Consultative Forum of the University, Bolu Ogundipe who spoke on behalf of other Students expressed satisfaction with the trip. He said as students in History and International Relations, they have seen how embassies handle diplomatic functions on daily basis. Mr. Ogundipe informed that students on the trip enjoyed the various lectures that were delivered to them by top staff of NIIA and Chinese Embassy.
He described the week-long excursion as school outside classroom, saying it has given them practical experience that would assist them in their chosen discipline.
