A former Vice Chancellor at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Albert Ilemobade was kidnapped yesterday in Akure, Ondo state alongside his gateman.

Prof. Ilemobade, who was FUTA VC between 1987 to 1995, was attacked and abducted at his Ijapo residence, in Akure.

It was reported that the gunmen on their arrival at the residence of the former Vice Chancellor approached the gateman and asked him to lead them to where the former Vice Chancellor was staying at gunpoint.

They entered the siting room of the house and bundled the professor to his car parked outside the building.

However, the gateman attempted to raise an alarm over the crime but he was immediately shut up and told to enter the vehicle too.

The gunmen then zoomed off to an unknown location with the two. His car was later abandoned by his kidnappers along Ijare road.

It will be recalled that the Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Prof. Rosemund Green-Osahogulu was also kidnapped last week Thursday by unknown gunmen in Rumuolumeni, Rivers state.
