5 First Class as Nigerian Turkish University Graduates 119 Students

The Nigerian Turkish Nile University (NTNU), Abuja graduated a total of 119 students during the 3rd Convocation ceremony of the institution held on Saturday 13th June, 2015.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Huseyin Sert, disclosed that 5 of the graduating students bagged First Class Honours while another 48 got Second Class Upper Honours and a further 52 relieved Second Class Lower. He added that 14 students graduated with Third Class.

The VC noted that the turnover of the number of graduands from the University justified the vision and mission statement of the Institution of producing quality graduates who shall be full of knowledge, skill and experience to contribute to technological and economic development nationally and internationally.

Prof. Sert said that the University now have Faculties of Natural and Applied Sciences, Engineering, Management and Social Sciences, Arts and Law, while plans had reached an advanced stage towards establishing a Faculty of Medical Sciences.

The high-point of the Convocation was the conferment of Honorary Degrees on two distinguished Nigerians for their work in inter-religious dialogue.

They were Sheikh Shariff Ibrahim Saleh Alhussaini, Chairman, Fatwa Committees of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Nigeria and Ja-ma’atu Nasril Islam and Chairman Assembly of Moslems in Nigeria and Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, CON, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Abuja.
