The National Universities Commission, NUC has approved the
establishment of five new programmes at Obong University. The five new
programmes which is to be offered at the Bachelors level include; Public
Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Peace
Studies and Conflict Resolution, and Sociology.
The National Universities commission said after due consideration of
the report submitted by the resource evaluation panel, the Management
Committee at its 442nd meeting, had approved the establishment of five
new programmes to be run at Obong University beginning from the
2015/2016 academic session.
The Commission in a letter signed by Dr Gidado Bello Kumo stated that the approval follows the resource evaluation visit to Obong University carried out by panels of experts from the commission with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for the establishment of the new programmes.
the Vice Chancellor of Obong University, Professor Udoudo Moses Ekanemesang in his reaction to the new development has commended the commission for what he described as a thorough and painstaking process which has led to approval of the new programmes, noting that such meticulous effort by the team will go a long in strengthening the tertiary educational system in the country.
The Vice Chancellor also assured that facilities are in place to receive the influx of students to Obong University when the institution opens its doors to admit students into the new programmes in October.
He therefore urged parents and guardians all over Nigeria desirous of giving high quality tertiary education in a serene environment at an affordable cost to consider sending their wards to Obong University located at Obong Ntak in Etim Ekpo Local Government area of Akwa Ibom state.
