The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Government Secondary School Makera in Kaduna, has urged the State Government to register the school as examination centre for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

According to the PTA Chairman, Alhaji Mohammadu Musa, students from the school, established seven years ago, had to register and sit for WAEC and NECO elsewhere.
He said for the past three years, all the students that went through the school had to be registered with other schools to enable them sit for the examinations.

“Currently, another set of 250 students will be ready for the examination next year.
“If the centre is not provided, we will have to register them elsewhere to sit for the WAEC examination,” Musa said.

According to him, the PTA had written to the state Ministry for Education to facilitate the registration process.

“The ministry replied us that we will have to make provision for examination hall, library and laboratories.

“As am talking to you now, the government has provided the school with a laboratory and the PTA on its own part built examination hall and provided a class to serve as library.

“We are going back to notify the ministry that the PTA, with support from the school’s community, has provided all the necessary facilities needed for the centre,” he added. (NAN)
