50 Varsities Connected To Convenant University Mobile Learning Device

The Vice-Chancellor of Convenant University (CU) , Ota , Professor Charles Ayo, has stated that 50 Universities in the country are connected to the institution’s mobile learning platform.

It will be recalled that the mobile learning device was first launched by the university on May 7, to ease students access to learning.

Ayo said that the mobile learning tablet would provide students with the right skills to meet up with their counterparts in developed countries in all areas of learning.

The vice-chancellor stressed that the strength of any nation depended on the quality of its education.
He attributed the poor quality of education in Nigeria to the decay in infrastructure.

Also, Mr Yomi Adedeji, the Managing Partner, Softcom Limited,, said that the conference was to inspire, educate and connect leaders from selected Universities on application of modern technology in the education sector, to improve service delivery.

Adedeji disclosed that MTN Nigeria would subsidise the cost of connectivity for the 50 Universities while Diamond Bank would provide them with funds to secure the tablets provided by Samsung.

He said that education had gone beyond conventional learning as students across the globe now use modern technology to access vital information and interact among themselves.

Mr Kayode Odedina, Deputy Director, e-Learning, National Universities Commission, said Nigerian Universities must embrace the use of mobile learning in line with global trend.

“There is the need to improve on infrastructure development and technology in the country so that the goal could be achievable,” he said. (NAN)
