The Covenant University (CU),
Ota have signed a partnership agreement with the Songhai Centre (SC) in
Porto-Novo, Benin Republic. The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) was to create a platform for collaboration between CU and SC, with
a view to further the entrepreneurship interests of both parties.
Some specific areas of collaboration include establishment of a functional incubation, training and development unit for the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Studies, as well as exploration of new areas of research and development for the Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery.
Other areas of collaboration include waste management and recycling of used plastic materials and manufacturing of industrial machines; establishment of agricultural entrepreneurship projects and a functional irrigation system for the University Farm; establishment of a Bio-Gas facility in Covenant University; development and building of Science and Technology Park in Covenant University and the establishment of a more profitable production facility for the Strategic Business Unit of the University.
In her remarks at the meeting, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor
Taiwo Abioye, representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo,
expressed her excitement at the prospect of working with Songhai Centre
to create dynamic research portfolios. To enable and facilitate more
Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) projects and supplementary
agricultural products as well as increasing productivity on existing
ones. She also presented the decision of the CU Management to send some
students to SC by Summer on SIWES Programme in other to develop new
perspectives and learn new methods.
Also present at the meeting were, the Director, Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery, Professor Louise Egwari; the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies, Dr. Chinonye Moses; the Director, Strategic Business Unit, Dr. Abiola Babajide; Dr. Victor Mathews; Dr. Tuesday Owoye; Barr. Oni-Ojo and Ms. Chichi Ononiwu from the Directorate of Media & Corporate Affairs.
