A senior lecturer at the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Dr Olusegun Peleyeju, has urged the Federal Government to invest more in the education sector, to fast-track development in the country.
The Department of Education and Management lecturer, who lauded the standard of education in Nigeria, in spite of the challenges being faced in the sector, said that more still needs to be done.
He said that for the nation to compete favourably in the future, education advancement remained paramount.
Peleyeju urged unemployed graduates to engage themselves productively even though white-collar jobs were scarce and not forthcoming.
He urged students to make the best use of information technology for productive means, rather than just for amusement sake.
“It is not wrong to browse the internet but when you do that, do so appropriately. There must not be misplacement of priority.
“Spend more time trying to garner useful information while using the internet rather than chatting or playing games.
“Advancement in information technology is supposed to be a plus and not a hindrance,” Peleyeju said.
The lecturer said a sound education was required as one of the qualities a good political leader must possess. (NAN)
