Some students of the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile-Ife on Saturday visited the Convenant Orphanage and
Welfare Centre, Moro, to celebrate the Valentine’s Day with residents of
the home.
The students, who went under the aegis of
Commonwealth Law Students Society, said the visit was to show love to
the motherless children.
Among the gifts donated to the orphanage were food items and drinks.
President of the society, Stanley Ekpa, explained that the visit was a symbol to show the essence of humanity.
He urged other organisations to assist in supporting the less- privileged in the society.
He said, “As students, most of us are
still struggling to earn a living but we find it as a responsibility to
help the orphanage. We chose to be here today because Valentine is a
symbol to show that humanity remains. When we finish our studies, we
will still engage in activities to support them.
“People must continue to contribute, in
their little way, to humanity. This responsibility is something we must
not fail to perform. If we do, our existence will have value.”
Proprietress of the orphanage, Mrs. Elizabeth Oroyemi, thanked the students for the good gesture.
