The
Principal, Atlantic Hall College, Poka-Epe, Lagos, Mr. Andrew Jedrais,
has advised pupils to imbibe the values of teamwork as they forge ahead
in their life pursuit.
According to the educationist, teamwork is an indispensable characteristics needed for personal and national development.
The principal stated this just as he
said that the school’s annual sports competition was an integral part of
the institution’s identity
Jedrais made this known during the school’s inter-house sports competition held recently in Lagos.
He said, “We want to teach team-spirit
and leadership through the competition. This is the most single
important event in our academic calendar and the purpose is to encourage
our pupils to imbibe the values of teamwork and excellence.”
The pupils competed in various sports including javelin, discuss, long jump and shot-put and others.
Efforts of contestants from Garnet,
Sapphire and Emerald Houses to topple the crown from Topaz House, the
defending champion, failed as the latter cruised to the finishing line
to sustain its unbroken five-year record as champion.
Pupils of the hostel emerged overall winner of the competition with 24 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 20 bronze medals.
The house also produced the best female
and male athletes, Gbadamosi Rasheedat and Odunsi Kikioluwa, in the
senior girls and boys category, respectively.
Trinity College, Ofada, Ogun State beat
Greensprings School, Lekki, Lagos and the Odo-Obara Senior High School,
Epe, Lagos to emerge winner in the boys category of the invited schools
while Queens College, Yaba, thrashed Trinity College, Ofada and Corona
Secondary School, Agbara in the girls category.
