The Ondo State Government has warned
head teachers and principals of public primary and secondary schools in
the state against engaging in collection of unauthorised fees.
It said such acts contradicted the government’s policy of making education affordable to all.
The Commissioner for Education, Mr. Jide Adejuyigbe, issued the warning at a meeting with the education managers in Akure.
The present administration in the state,
he said, was committed to making quality education accessible to the
children of the less privileged in the society.
According to Adejuyigbe, any fee to be collected in any school must get the approval of the ministry.
The commissioner also urged education
officers to visit schools regularly to maintain discipline and ensure
punctuality of pupils in schools.
