The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC),
Prof. Julius Okojie, has announced the Commission’s intention to
undertake an infrastructure audit in the nation’s universities, to
ensure that
priority was given to the procurement of relevant equipment over the erection of unequipped structures.
The Executive Secretary stated this while receiving a delegation from the proposed Hope Waddell University, Ohafia, Abia State, on Wednesday, 13 May, 2015.
Prof Okojie informed the delegation that NUC had the mandate of ensuring the orderly development of the Nigerian University System (NUS).
He also said that the commission has the responsibility of prescribing Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards for programmes and the mandate of carrying out accreditation exercises in all universities, to ensure quality.
