The Benue State University Makurdi
had matriculated a total of 5,210 students during the 23rd
matriculation ceremony of the university which took place on Friday, 6th
February, 2015.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charity Angya, while speaking during the ceremony, disclosed that the new students were selected out of the 7,457 candidates who sat for the 2014 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) and 3,343 who had applied through Direct Entry.
She also said that the matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of students into the university and advised them to pay attention to their studies and shun vices.
Angya stressed that the university management had put in place adequate security measures to check improper dressing, cultism, drug abuse and examination misconduct.
The VC urged the students to be wary of those they interact with, so that they would not be negatively influenced by people of questionable character.
