The Federal University of Petroleum, Effurun, FUPRE,
Delta state will in September, present her students to compete for
laurels for the African continent in the United States of America
(Huston, Texas) for the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE
2015).
This followed their placing first in the Petrol Bowl Competition
and third in the Petrol Quiz, two key academic competitions organized by
the Society of Petroleum Engineers International (SPEI) for all student
chapters of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in the African.
Both engineering development competitions were held at the Africa
Regional Student Technical Conference and Exhibition 2015 at the
Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun earlier in March, 2015.
Later in the year, the FUPRE students chapter of the SPE will
further fly the African flag among other representatives at the
International SPE contest in Netherlands having, in just three years of
formation, emerged second in the 2013 National SPE competition and
subsequently clinching second in 2014 at the International SPE
competition for all chapters in African.
In a note of recognition to the Vice Chancellor, FUPRE, Prof. Akii
Ibhadode, the Chairman, SPE Section 104 Warri, Bruce O. G commended
students and management of the young institution, observing that “this
is the second time FUPRE students have won the competition and made the
Warri, Nigeria Section of the SPE proud.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibhadode noted that students of FUPRE
have won several laurels in scholarships and sponsorships in overseas
SPE conferences, assuring that the institution would continue to
encourage students for greater academic exploits as their efforts are
announcing FUPRE to the world.
Students who participated in the various competitions include
Ehwarieme Samuelson Edoja, Samuel Henry Sunday, Sulaimon Sodiq Ayinde,
Tesi Godwin Oghenekpabor, Ajimosun Isaac Adesoji and Ikehi Emmanuel
Awulor.
