The State Coordinator of NYSC,
Mr Thomas Yamma, during the inauguration of their three-week
orientation progamme at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko on
Thursday disclosed that about three thousand (3,000) corps members were
been deployed to Sokoto State for the 2015 Batch ‘A’ service year by the
National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
He stressed that arrangements had been
made by NYSC, the State Government, security agencies and federal
agencies to ensure the safety, comfort and welfare of the corps members.
Mr. Yamma called on the state government to assist in feeding the corps members during the orientation.
Responding to the plea, Gov. Aliyu
Wamakko of Sokoto State promised to continue to do his best to ensure
the success of the scheme at all times.
Wamakko, who was represented by the
Commissioner for Social Welfare, Alhaji Zubairu Yari, urged the corps
members to uphold honesty, patriotism and dedication to duty as the
lofty ideals of the scheme.
In a reaction, the Chairman, state NYSC
Governing Board, Alhaji Halliru Tambuwal, who is also the Permanent
Secretary, Ministry of Youths, promised not to relent in making the
exercise safe and memorable for the corps members.
