This Country Nigeria is blessed with several universities some of which are either Government or Private Properties. Here is a list of 10 oldest Federal Universities in Nigeria. The ages of these schools has been arranged in descending order depending on when they were first established (created, founded).

Below are the list of Oldest Universities In Nigeria in descending order:
1.) University of Ibadan (UI) – 1948 – Located in Oyo State
2.) University of Nigeria, Nsukka – 1960 – Located in Enugu State
3.) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Efe – 1961 – Located in Osun State
4.) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – 1962 – Located in Kaduna
5.) University Of Lagos – 1962 – Located in Lagos State.
6.) University of Maiduguri – 1975 – Located in Borno State
7.) University of Benin – 1970 – Located in Edo State
8.) University of Calabar – 1975 – Located in Cross Rivers State
9.) University of Jos – 1975 – Located in Plateau State
10.) University of Ilorin – 1975 – Located in Kwara State.

It is worthy of note however that the quality of education and certificate obtained in any of the listed 10 oldest Federal Universities in Nigeria does not depend on how old the institution.
