NYSC Begs Prospective Corps Members

Following the recent protest by graduates across the nation, due to the continual postponement in date of mobilization and orientation camp, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has pleaded with the 2016 Stream 2 Batch A prospective Corps Members to be patient.

Speaking during an interview in Ibadan, Oyo state, the NYSC Director of Information, Mr Stephen Bankole, appealed to the prospective corps members to be patient, adding that plans are currently in place to call them to camp soon.

He said: “NYSC depends solely on budgetary allocation from the Federal Government and all hands are on deck waiting for fund to be released for the scheme.

“The Director-General has the well-being of the members as the number one agenda in his heart and he will do everything possible to make them comfortable.

“So please, the incoming members should be at peace, they will surely be mobilized as the Director-General has promised.”

NYSC had announced the postponement of the orientation course which was initially slated for May 21st, 2016 to a yet to be determined date.

On May 25, several aggrieved graduates of Nigerian Institutions – expecting to be mobilized for the 2016 Stream 2 Batch A – took to the street to vent their frustration and anger over the untold delay in mobilizing them for the service year.

The would-be corps members on May 24, had written a letter addressed to the Area F Police Command requesting for its permission before embarking on the peaceful protest.
