The NUT chairman, Dare Ilekoya, and his counterpart in ASUSS, Akeem Lasisi, jointly announced that the strike had been called off after a congress of the two bodies held at NUT Hall, Abeokuta
Ilekoya, while explaining reasons for their decision, said the government had shown willingness to look into their demands.
He said the government also agreed to pay the October deductions with immediate effect, while outstanding would also be paid subsequently as state’s Internally Generated Revenue improves.
Ilekoya added that the government had agreed to set up a committee involving all stakeholders to review other outstanding issues.
