JAMB Reopens Portal For UTME Registration For Just 48 Hours

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has caved in to protests that it had prevented many candidates to register for the forthcoming 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), by shutting down its online registration portal.

Although the body had dismissed the protest as wrong-headed, in a statement today, it said it is giving a 48-hour extension for applicants to complete registration process.

JAMB will reopen its website between 12 midnight on Tuesday and 12 midnight on Thursday to allow applicants complete their registration process for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

But the fresh grace, the Board stated, will only be for applicants who were unable to complete the registration process as of Friday, 5 February, when the registration closed and not those who want to begin a fresh registration process.

The reopening of the portal, it said will enable applicants who have initiated the process of registration for the 2016 UTME but couldn’t upload and complete the process, noting that the grace would not cover applicants who want to start fresh registration process.

According to spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, “the directive doesn’t cover fresh registration but only those who had either done offline registration or visited our website but could not submit.”

“The Board wishes to state that all arrangements for the 2016 UTME has been completed and examination will commence as earlier stated,” the statement added, urging candidates to print their examination slips for the schedules of their date, venue, time allotted to them and other necessary information.
