No fewer than 12,711 students will receive their first degree
certificates during the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) 21st Convocation
ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th February, 2017.
In his speech at the pre-convocation media conference, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Michael Adikwu, said that six of the graduating students bagged First Class degrees.
He further stated that another 644 students got Second Class Upper while a total of 6,187 graduands made Second Class Lower. Also 5,830 graduating students are in the Third Class category and 44 got Pass degrees.
Adikwu said the University has now made the convocation an annual event according to standard practice, saying students must be graduated every year unless there is a distortion in academic calendar.
The VC also disclosed that honorary doctorate degrees would be conferred on two eminent Nigerians and a foreigner for their immense contribution to the development of education and economy of the nation.
The honorary doctorate awardees are: Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammad Sanusi 11, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary and an active politician, Chief Michael Okibe Onoja and a German, Professor Peter Proksch.
