The federal government of Nigeria has commenced the process of ensuring
that all serving NYSC corps members are enrolled in the National Health
Insurance Scheme.
NHIS Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf, announced this in a meeting with NYSC DG Brig-General Suleiman Kazaure on Friday.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari had "requested the Ministry of Health to forward a memo to be presented to the Federal Executive Council on how corps members could be adequately covered in the NHIS scheme."
The idea to enroll corps members was influenced by the death of Ifedolapo Oladepo at the Kano orientation camp in 2016.
