Delta State Police have arrested five members of a cult group operating under Supreme Vikings Confraternity in Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, the cult members were holding a meeting in Onodia Palm Groove club in the community in preparation to cause mayhem on the campus community.
Unknown to the cult members, their meeting was being monitored by Surveillance Squad, a development which led to the arrest of five members of the cult.
She gave their names as Sylvester Ekwareme, Monije Zion, Ikolomi Gobel, Magnus Iwuchukwu, and Ogheneochukwu Odjubi.
During interrogation, it was discovered that they were members of the same dreaded Supreme Vikings Confraternity on campus. A locally made cut to size pistol was recovered from the gang.
In a similar development, police operatives attached Warri Patrol team had an encounter with a gang of armed robbers operating in a Toyota Camry car along Warri/Sapele Road.
The encounter resulted in brutal exchange of gunfire where one of the armed robbers, identified as Isawhe Oghale was shot dead while others escaped.
Items recovered from the hoodlums include one Toyota Camry car with Reg No. UGH 550 AA, two double and single barrel locally made guns, one double barrel locally made pistol with 15 live cartridges, one UBA debit card bearing Ogwah Gladys.
The PPRO, said efforts are in top gear to apprehend fleeing suspects and bring to justice.
