UNILORIN wins hosting rights for National Youth Games 2016/2017

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) will host the 2016/2017 editions of the National Youth Games (NYG), the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhassan Yakmut, has said.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) will host the 2016/2017 editions of the National Youth Games (NYG), the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhassan Yakmut, has said.
Yakmut said this in Abuja while briefing newsmen about Team Nigeria’s preparation for the 2016 Olympics, The News Nigeria reports.
According to him, the NSC had already reached an agreement with UNILORIN about the NYG.

“But the good news is that the NSC and the University of Ilorin have entered into an agreement for the hosting of the 2016/2017 editions of the National Youth Games," the DG said.
“The plan is for it to take place in the premises of University of Ilorin where the athletes will enjoy facilities and accommodations free of charge.’’

Cross Rivers State emerged the overall winner of the debut NYG held in Abuja in 2013.

Akwa Ibom and Delta state representatives settled for first-runner-up and second-runner-up positions respectively.
UNILORIN has been named one of the best universities in Nigeria several times.
