The
Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun
State, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, has stressed the importance of academic
seminar, saying it is vital to promoting excellence, integrity and
global relevance.
It also, the VC says, promotes innovation, service to humanity as well as an avenue for students to attain greatness in life.
He made this known at a colloquium organised by the Computer Science department of the university.
The event entitled “Harnessing
Opportunities in Computer Science and Information Technology” was to
connect the opportunities in computer science and information technology
and to provide a platform for collaboration between the present and
past students of the department.
The VC, represented by the Dean, College
of Physical Sciences, Prof. Catherine Eromosele, while calling for
regular colloquium, said it could help in preparing youngsters on life
after graduation, especially considering the high level of unemployment
in the country.
Oyewole, who commended the acting Head,
Department of Computer Science, Dr. Adesina Sodiya, for organising the
colloquium, also hailed former students of the university for
participating in the event.
