Mysterious snakes invade DELSU hostels

One of it was at the weekend found in the wardrobe of a final year student of Micro Biology department as she was about to UnCloth.


Reports said that the student, Miss Adesuwa Erebor, had wanted to select clothes to wear to class when suddenly she saw something shiny like a millipede, but on closer look she realized it was a brown snake.

Sources at the university said that mysterious snakes were in the students’ hostels especially during nightfall and power failure. Two of such snakes were said to have disappeared when the students attempted to killed tem recently.

In the instant case, the she screamed for help and quickly locked the wardrobe so as to trap it but when the wardrobe was opened again, the reptile was nowhere to be found.

“I had left the room quietly and shouted for help, and some of my hostel mates rushed into my room but to their surprise the snake could not be found in the wardrobe. We searched everywhere to know avail.”

Security operatives who do not want their names mentioned blamed the frequent snake incidents in the hostel to overgrown weeds and unhealthy environment around the hotels.

AKSU Important Notice To DE Applicants For 2015/16 Admission

AKSU has issued yet another directive to all prospective DE applicants for admission for 2015/2016. All such applicants are hereby informed and advised to act accordingly.

Direct Entry Candidates who applied for the D.E choosing Akwa Ibom State University as their preferred institution and are yet to submit the requested credentials are hereby directed to do so before the submission deadline.

Candidates yet to submit their credentials due to incomplete documents, especially the ND certificate or ND result are also directed to submit the rest of the credentials available. Provided the ND certificate or ND result will be on time.
Below is a list of the documents to be submitted;
(i) Jamb Direct Entry Registration slip showing candidates passport.
(ii) SSCE result [of not more than two sittings].
(iii) Certificate of National Diploma and/or Result from previously attended polytechnic. (iv) Birth certificate.

Candidates who scored 180 and above in the last UTME examination and chose Akwa Ibom State University as their First Choice (Most Preferred) institution are eligible.
REGISTRATION FOR THE SCREENING EXERCISE
Candidates will be required to register for the exercise with a screening fee of N3,500.00 (three thousand five hundred Naira) only through on-line payment using the following procedure and the banks listed below:

Method Of Application

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(a) Masters degree programmes
Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
At least a Second Class Honours Degree of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any other University of recognized standing in the relevant discipline.
Third Class Bachelor’s Degree plus PGD or HND and any professional qualification with appropriate PGD from a recognized University.
Holders of LL.B with at least Second Class Honours or Third Class Honours with a B.L. and with at least five years post-call experience, may be considered for the LL.M programme.
For Masters in French studies, holders of B.A. or B.ED (French) with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division of any recognized University.
For Master of Business Administration, Holders of a Bachelor degree not below Second Class Lower Division in any discipline OR Third Class Degree/HND plus postgraduate diploma in any administration related discipline, plus at least one year post qualification experience.
(b) M.Phil Programme
Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission.
Graduate of Ambrose Alli University with a Masters degree in related discipline.
Graduate of any other approved University with the qualification specified in (i) aboveThat he/she has completed the course work requirements for the M.Phil Degree with an average grade of 55 per cent.
That he/she passes an oral transfer examination conducted by the Board of Postgraduate Studies of the Department on the subject of his/her research plan
(c) Ph.D Programme
A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any other University of recognized standing who possesses Master’s degree appropriate to the intended course may be admitted. However, such intending candidate should have scored an average of 60 per cent in his/her Master’s degree programme.
(c) Departmental Requirements
Notwithstanding the above, a Department may require an applicant, as a condition for admission, to undergo appropriate test, interviews, examinations, and/or take appropriate pre-requisite or concrete courses.
Students, where applicable, would be made to fulfill the Ph.D qualifying examination requirement to confirm their candidature before registration of their titles/proposals.
(e) Postgraduate Diplomas
(i) Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture
At least a Third class Hons degree in Architecture
(ii) Postgraduate Diploma in Geography and Regional Planning (PGDGRP)
At least Third Class Honours degree in Geography and Regional Planning or any other related discipline relevant to Geography from AAU or any other recognized equivalent institution holders of HND/HNC from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology may be considered.
(iii) Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering (PGDENG) (Civil, Elect/Elect, and Mechanical and Material & Production Engineering)
Holders of good HND in Engineering with at least four (4) years post-qualification cognate experience or Graduate in fields relevant to Engineering of any recognized University shall be considered.
(iv) Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGD)
Postgraduate Diploma in Botany (PGDB)
At a least Third Class Honours Degree in Botany or other Science related discipline.
(v) Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry (PGDIC)
At least Third Class Honours Degree in Chemistry; and any of the following:
(1) Industrial Chemistry
(2) Biochemistry
(3) Chemistry Education
HND with a Credit pass in Chemistry or other Science related discipline.
(vi) Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS)
At least Third Class Honours Degree of Ambrose Alli University or any other recognized institution in a Science-based discipline. Other relevant professional qualifications may be considered on their merit.
(vii) Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics (PGDS)
At least Third Class Honours Degree of Statistics or Mathematics from Ambrose Alli University or any other university recognized standing
(viii) Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology (PGDM)
At least Third Class Honours or Pass degree in Microbiology from Ambrose Alli University, or any other University of recognized standing, in the relevant disciplines such as Biology, Biochemistry and Food Technology.
Holders of FIMILS and AIMLS in Science related discipline.
(ix) Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry (PGDZ)
At least Third Class Honours degree in Biochemistry and other related Science Discipline
(x) Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics (PGDS)
At least Third Class Honours Degree of Statistics or Mathematics from Ambrose Alli University or any other university recognized standing
(xi) Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)
First degree from Ambrose Alli University or other recognized University
H.N.D from recognized Polytechnic or equivalent University.
Full professional qualification of recognized professional Bodies approved by the Senate of the University.
(xii) Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA)
A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any other recognized University in any discipline or holder of H.N.D in any discipline with at least three years cognate experience
(xiii) Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any other University of recognized standing who possesses a good first degree classification acceptable to Senate.
In all cases, candidates must possess the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate.
PERIOD OF STUDY
The duration of the courses to be offered shall be as follows:
(i) Ph.D Programme (Full-Time)
The duration shall be a minimum of three (3) academic sessions, and a maximum of five (5) academic sessions.
(ii) Ph.D Programme (Part-Time)
The duration shall not be less than five (5) academic sessions and a maximum of eight (8) academic sessions.
(iii) Master’s Degree Programme (Full-Time)
The duration may vary from Department to Department, provided it shall be in the range of a minimum of one (1) academic session and not more than three (3) academic sessions
(iv) Masters Programme (Part-Time)
The duration shall be in the range of a minimum of three (3) academic sessions and maximum of four (4) academic sessions. Extension may be allowed for not more than one (1) academic session.
(v) Postgraduate Diploma
The duration shall not be less than one (1) academic session for Full-Time and not more than two (2) academic sessions for Part-Time.
Note: In exceptional cases, an extension of not more than one (1) academic session may be approved by Senate on the recommendation of the Board for all the postgraduate programmes.
HOW TO APPLY|
Applicants are required to purchase an eTranzact PIN (Payment Voucher) for Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma’s School of Postgraduate Studies Form at a fee of N23,000.00 (Twenty Three Thousand Naira) only from the Fidelity Bank, Ekpoma.
PROCEDURE FOR ON-LINE APPLICATION
On purchase of the eTranzact PIN (Payment Voucher), candidates are to visit the Ambrose Alli University college portal at www.myaau.com to complete and submit the School of Postgraduate Studies online application form with reference to the handbook. All such candidates must upload their coloured passport photographs and scanned copies of all relevant certificates/documents to the portal.
Candidates should preview and confirm that the passport photograph is uploaded correctly, as no complaint of wrong or blank picture will be entertained after submission of forms.
Candidates are to print out a copy of the duly completed Application Form with their passport photograph and submit a hard copy to and collect a hard copy of the Handbook at the School of Postgraduate Studies.

Eligibility

Candidates that chose IBBUL as their Most Preferred Institution (First Choice) in the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored as follows:
i) 180 and above for Sciences, Agriculture, Languages, Education and Arts; and Sociology
ii) 190 and above for Management and Social Science Courses; and Mass Communication
iii) Direct Entry Candidates who have Upper Credit or its equivalent
to log-on to our portal (www.ibbu.edu.ng) for online verification of their O’Level Results (i.e. WAEC, NECO,
NABTEB and NCE/Diploma/IJMB.
All eligible candidates are therefore required to visit www.ibbu.edu.ng for the Exercise between 29th July and 12th
August, 2015. The online screening exercise is in three stages as indicated below:

Screening Exercise

Stage 1: Candidates are required to do the following on the Post UTME Portal:
 Enter their JAMB Registration Number to confirm if they are eligible. If eligible;
 Choose a bank form a drop down list
 Enter the number of results you wish to submit for verification (maximum of 2 sittings for O’Level results).
An acknowledgement/confirmation slip will be generated with the following information on it:
 Candidate JAMB number and Name
 Bank , Account Name and Account Number
 Number of Results and Amount due for payment
Stage 2: Candidates are to proceed to make payment using the information contained in the acknowledgement slip
above.
Stage 3: – Candidates who have completed the second stage of the screening should proceed to the third stage after
48 hours of making the stipulated payment by logging in their JAMB Registration Number, teller number and O’/A’
Level results. Candidates are advised to correctly input their results.
NOTE: Candidates results will be screened for eligibility of admission based on the following:
 The University Admission will only be based on the NUC carrying capacity for this University. Therefore, relative merit will be strictly applied in the context of the quality of O’/A’Level Results and UTME Score.
 Authentication of their O’/A’Level results by the University.
